Our story

Theatre started as a charming, old-fashioned little bakery baking fresh breads and hand-crafted treats in the thick of Covid.

We opened with the vision of growing this community, honoring the craftsmanship of French baking and spreading happiness at a time where people would look for little pockets of respite from the lockdown.

The love we received gave us confidence that this place could grow into something more — a space where community, conversations and the love of hand-crafted Parisian-inspired delicacies could find a place to belong.

Theatre was always more than a cafe for us — we have crafted every little space with memories, meaning and passion for what we do. The neighborhood of the most amazing, creative and compassionate people around us have given it the love and life you see today.

Since 2020 it has grown through the people that became a part of it… like the bookshelf you see which started from a customer leaving some books on the shelf and then became a completely community-driven collection.

Like the cycle which is a childhood memory of one of us, given a second life through colour and light.
Like some of the dishes that were actually college-creations and mom’s recipes.

A client-demand omelette became an innovation we found the “aha!” in and put on the menu for the world to try, a pizza that was baked for a fussy-eater then became a family favourite, a wall with an art piece from a local artisan added beauty to the space… there are so many stories that have found a place to live here. All in all, the point is, this place isn’t ours. It’s yours. So spend as much time as you want in it, belong to it, make it your own and come back for more.

You are welcomed and loved here, just the way you are and our table will grow for everyone who walks in.
